INFO: The Rose Festival Tour operates during the Festival of the Rose taking place in the town of Kazanlak. Experience rose picking, visit rose distillery, see the big parade on the main street. Join the celebrations and be part of the festival!

Date of the Kazanlak Rose Festival 2021 – June 6, Sunday


The Rose Festival Tour is available only the first weekend of June 2021.

Day 1 – Thursday  – June 3, 2021 – Arrive in Sofia and take a sightseeing tour of the city

Arrive at the Sofia airport. Meet and greet by your professional guide. Transfer to the hotel. Check in and short time for refreshment. Enjoy walking sightseeing tour of Sofia including the Cathedral St. Alexander Nevski and the Rotonda St. George – one of the oldest churches in Europe. Admire the most recent Roman excavations in the central part and get acquainted with the millenarian history of Sofia. rose

B Accommodation in Sofia at Best Western Thracia Hotel **** (centrally located)

Day 2 – Friday – June 4, 2021 – Sofia – the Rila monastery – Plovdiv

Departure to the Rila Monastery – the richest historical and architectural monument of the Orthodox enclave, founded in 10th century and transformed to the most important spiritual and cultural center of Bulgaria. The monastery has unique architecture and is included in the list of UNESCO for its important role of preserving the Bulgarian language and spirituality. Continue to Plovdiv. Take a walking tour of the Old Town, declared architectural and historical reserve with over 150 monuments of culture. Included is view to the ancient Roman theater, 2nd century and the Roman stadium. Enjoy the beautiful view towards the city from one of the three hills of the Old town. Dinner in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant.

B Accommodation in Plovdiv Art Guest House 8 1/2 or Villa Antica

Day 3 – Saturday – June 5, 2021 – Plovdiv – Kazanlak

Departure to Kazanlak. Experience rose picking in one of the villages in the vicinity of Kazanlak. Attend the exhibition of Bulgarian traditional breads and taste different types and flavors. In the afternoon take photo with the Queen Rose – elected on the previous day in a glamorous ceremony. Visit the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak – the monument dates back to the 4th century BC (UNESCO site). In the historical museum of Kazanlak –see original artifacts from the Thracia era that will give you complete information about the Thracian culture and civilization. In the evening – join the International Folklore festival.

Day 4 – Sunday – June 6, 2021 – Kazanlak Rose Festival 2021 festivities

Two main events mark the celebrations – harvesting ritual in the rose gardens and the parade along the streets of the town. After breakfast take one of the off-roads around Kazanlak where is organized a big folklore concert. The highlight of the day is the carnival parade on the main pedestrian street starting at noon followed by official lunch with traditional folklore program. In the afternoon – visit one of the rose distilleries where you will be given interesting facts about the rose industry in Bulgaria. Before your eyes the rose petals will turn into rose oil. In the evening attend the closing festivities on the main square.

Day 5 – Monday – June 7, 2021 – Kazanlak – Veliko Tarnovo

Departure to Veliko Tarnovo. On our way we will visit “Etara” – an open air museum. It is the first museum presenting the historic past, economic development and the way of living of the population in 18 – 19th c. The shopping street represents 22 crafts, the way they were practiced locally in the mid-19th century. Continue to Veliko Tarnovo – capital city of The Second Bulgarian Kingdom. After breakfast – tour of the city. Visit to “Tsarevets” – a mediaeval stronghold located on a hill with the same name. It served as the Second Bulgarian Empire’s primary fortress and strongest bulwark from 1185 to 1393, housing the royal and the patriarchal palaces. 47 churches and 400 residential houses have been discovered in the whole complex. Fortified walls and defensive towers surround the city. The tower of Baldwin is the most famous and is an evidence for the power of the Bulgarian Kingdom. Stroll on the old Marketplace Samovodska Tcharshia and visit some of the local work shops. Only 4 km from Veliko Turnovo is Arbanassi, a charming village with an eventful history and fascinating architecture. Thirty six of its 80 houses and the five local churches have been declared for national monuments of culture.

Day 6 – Tuesday – June 8, 2021 – Veliko Tarnovo – Sofia

Departure to Sofia. Drop off at the airport. End of service.

Upon booking we require 30% of the price which is non refundable. This is because of the fact that the hotels in Kazanlak request 100% non-refundable prepayment upon booking.

The balance is due 21 days before arrival.

Cancellations :

21 to 14 days prior to departure – 50 % of the balance

14 to 7 days prior to departure – 70 % of the balance

7 to 3 days prior to departure – 80 % of the balance

3 to 0 days prior to departure – 100 % of the balance

After the departure or no-show – 100 % of the balance
